Being told so many different things...how much do I owe?? Or am I owed??

I have a $25/month promotion that runs from 6/23 through the end of 5/25 for internet that includes equipment. The equipment provided did not work well with my workplace's VPN and so a few months ago I bought my own router and modem which have not caused any issues. I kept the provided equipment in a closet as I didn't want to return it and have Comcast think I no longer wanted my promotional rate.

About a week ago I logged into the app to check a reward and looked at my bill, rather than it being the agreed upon $25, it had risen 60% to $40 due to an unused equipment charge, which is somewhat ridiculous to charge again for something included in the promotion, but it's Comcast so everyone knows they love their nickel and diming schemes. I spoke with an agent through the in-app chat who told me I needed to return the equipment, but that she would remove the extra charge. I agreed but when I checked the bill again and it had gone up to $60, a 120% increase over my promotion. I called the support line and a man answered, I told him I was very frustrated with Comcast and said referred to Comcast as "you" and he started screaming at me. I asked him to stop being an a-hole, which was inappropriate on my part, and he hung up on me, a few minutes later he called back to verify my address and insinuate he was coming to my house, then he hung up again.

I called back and spoke with a nicer lady who told me that she could see the additional charges, and that she removed them and added a $20 credit to take my bill down to $24.02, and that I should return the equipment to the closest Comcast store, and my bill would update within 72 hours. A few days later I took the equipment back to the store, and the person at the desk there told me that it had already been removed from my account, but that he would take it, and that my autopay on 9/7/24 (today) would be $24.02 and that my bill had not updated, and that what I could see would change within 72 hours. It never did go down to $24.02, it went to $39.96, I don't know why.

I spoke with someone last night over chat who told me to turn off auto-pay, which is required for my promotion, and to pay the $25 manually, and that I would owe nothing for this month, and to turn auto-pay back on after 9/9/24. I did this, and after paying the $25 it said if I didn't pay the $14.96 remaining I would be levied a late fee, she said she was having her supervisor remove the $14.96 (I have the chat transcripts for all of my chats.) My internet connection went out for a few seconds and I was disconnected from her. I was reconnected to another chat agent who told me if I didn't pay the $14.96 I would be charged a late fee, and while I was chatting with them I started getting calls from Comcast. I spoke with the person on the phone who told me he could see my rate is normally $25, and he could see I paid the $25 and that my balance is $0 and that the app is wrong.

This morning I see that the $14.96 is still listed as what is owed on the website and app, so I started up another chat and the chat agent told me I owe the $14.96 today, and if I don't pay Comcast will charge me a late fee. I asked him to have a manager call me and he said to hold on, then went away for a long time and I thought we had been disconnected. In the interim I called the number that had called me last night and spoke with a woman who said my balance is $0, and I don't need to pay and won't be charged the late fee. While on the phone with her I get a second call from Comcast coming in and ignore it, she assures me that I owe nothing.

A few minutes later I get another call from Comcast, the call that had been set up by the previous chat agent. It is not a manager as requested. The man on this call tells me that I owe $59.96 and if I don't pay it today I'll be charged a late fee. I told him that is so much different of a charge than everyone else is telling me and ask to speak with a manager. He placed me on hold for several minutes, and I speak with another man who tells me he is a supervisor and he looked into my account and after the payment of $25 last night, Comcast owes me $.98 as my bill had been reduced to $24.02 previously and that because of all of the people messing with my account and changing the credits I won't owe anything next month. I asked what will happen if I do get charged the late fee, he said to call and it will be removed, which does not sound like a very Comcastic™ thing they would do.

I just want to know how can I get so many different answers from different people? What do I owe? Will the guy from the first phone call show up to my house? What do I do if and when I get the late fee?

This has been a very frustrating time, and then I think that it's over a tiny sum of money, but it's just so typically Comcast, to be so absurd and utterly unhelpful.

I just want to pay the $25/month through the end of 5/25 like I initially agreed to.
