I believe I have discovered a workaround for the issue of the Guide Grid in Favorites View not accepting the direct entry of favorite channels in order to navigate the grid.
I developed this same issue at about the same time as the other posters here. Previous to this I to could navigate around Favorites View via direct entry. While exploring the issue, I discovered the following.
Preface the desired favorite channel number with a zero.
To navigate to channel two in the grid, rather than entering 2, enter 02, then OK.
Similarly, enter 0445 to navigate to 445.
It should go without saying that the desired channel must actually be a favorite channel.
It's not right, but it seems to work for me.
To Comcast: The possible existence of a workaround is no excuse for failing to fix the issue -- or for having the issue in the first place.
Ha! Good find. I only have HD channels as favorites with SHOHD (650) as my first (numerically). While in Favorites Guide view and row ESPNHD (668) at the top, I pressed Guide, 0650, OK ... and the Guide replotted with SHOHD at the top. Now, if I just don't wear out my "0" button.
p.s. just verified, in my example above, that pressing Guide, 02, OK ... replots the Guide with my first (numerical) favorite (650 in my case) at the top. Same behavior that I counted on daily, before the bug appeared, in order to replot the Guide in Favorites view with my first favorite at the top.
You don't need to press anything else but 0 and OK.
Well goodness, you're correct ...
Fyi ... even after the fix (XRE 1.67.07), the Guide doesn't behave exactly as it did before. If you read my "p.s." in the post above (or any of my previous comments re: use of the "2" button) followed by HowAboutThisOne's comment re: the "0" button, you'll know that I used to be able to press the Guide button (while in Favorites view), then "2", then Enter and the Guide would replot with my first (numerical) favorite channel (650) at the top. After the fix, doing this (at least when channel 2 is not a favorite) yields the same annoying "Switch Guide View" message as described in the OP. I must now press "0" to replot the Guide with my first favorite at the top. It's not a big problem or even a bug necessarily, but it's definitely a change in behavior.
