Looking forward to 1.62. I haven't have .1.61 very long. My area seems to be one of the last to get updates. I am learning patience....yep...I said it....me of all people.
I manually restarted my STB on Fri afternoon and noticed afterward that I had 1.62, whereas early Fri morning (after the nightly auto-restart), I was still at 1.61.
About screen now shows:
Release Version: xappl-XRE.62P1 XRE Server Version: 1.62.01 03/03/2016 21:02 XRE Protocol Version: 2.8.0 Receiver: Native version : 2.2.0 STB Timestamp: Wed 03 Feb 2016 06:55:22 PM UTC eCM MAC: xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx STB Version: PX013AN_2.2p7s3_PROD_HYBse Device ID: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Environment: p4-6o Remote Battery Level: 10%
I'm sure there's a whole lot more that's been rolled into this XRE update, but upon first glance I can at least confirm the following:
1) as ComcastAndrew reported, under Comcast Labs there is a new Default Guide View entry with the options listed below. I've selected Favorites (of course!) and it seems to work great
[EDIT #1: works as expected when you use the Guide button to access the guide. However, it appears that when you access the guide via the Xfinity button, the Guide View reverts to All Channels versus (in my case) Favorites. Not sure what what might happen if I were to speak "Guide" into my voice remote, but I'd like to see my Default Guide View be displayed regardless of how the guide is invoked]
[EDIT #2: works as you would expect (adheres to your Default setting) when you either 1) push the Guide button on your remote or 2) tap the Guide button within the X1 Remote app. Does not work as expected (does not adhere to your Default setting and displays All Channels instead) when you either 1) access the guide via the Xfinity button or 2) speak the word "Guide" into your voice remote]
All Channels HD Channels Favorites* Trending Movies Sports Kids
2) after pressing the "C" button on the remote (or manually selecting any of the Apps), I'm no longer prompted for my Parental PIN when Safe Browse is set to Medium (or High) Safety
3) navigating through the Guide, etc. seems to be much snappier than before. This is subjective of course, so am looking forward to what others have to say
In a previous thread, I reported another issue with Parental Controls, namely that when a TVG or TVPG rated movie (via Info button) is playing on Turner Classic Movies and my Movie Rating Locks are set to lock Adult movies, I'm prompted for my Parental PIN when I tune to TCMHD. Earlier this evening I verified with Wuthering Heights, hardly an Adult movie! Was hoping this would also have been resolved in XRE 1.62. Since this issue is somewhat off-topic here, I may revisit the previous thread and indicate that there's still a problem.
Anyway, kudos to the X1 development and support teams. Feature enhancements and bug fixes rarely come as quickly as we might want, but patience is a virtue I guess since we now have Reminders and a Guide that doesn't revert back to All Channels after 90 minutes! Now, about that buffer recording issue. Lol
