Wow! I knew it would go up, but I was thinking the sports and entertainment or regional sports might go up $2. $6.20 is a BIG jump. I still may have to look at other options before next season because I doubt other cable providers went up that much. And 6 weeks after the launch we STILL can't watch it on the marquee app because all it says for xfinity is "coming soon". I really think that if/when the channel is added they may add it to the existing More sports and entertainment package and then raise that by a couple of bucks. Of course Ricketts and the Cubs would perfer they be on basic cable so Comcast has to pay for all subscribers but that is not how it is set up on WOW or DirecTV. On both of those there are basic packages that don't include the channel. My biggest fear, however, is that this issue won't be resoloved until well into the season and we will be able to watch SEC Gymnastics and PAC-12 Lacrosse in Chicago but not the Cubs ... View more

My guess is, and this is purely a guess, is that if a deal is done what will happen is the channel will be added to the sports/entertainment package which is not on basic cable but is an option that I think cost about 9.99 a month. That way the argument can be made that you are not paying for the marquee network if you don't want too, it is included in the package. Of course if you want NFL Network, Red Zone Channel, NBA Channel, Tennis channel, etc you will have to keep the sports entertainment package for that and Marquee will be added "for free". Then a month or two after it is up and running (assuming it is up and running) the cost of the sports/entertainment package will subtily increase by like 2 or 4 bucks a month and that is how they get all subscribers to pay for the channel wheather they watch it or not. That is really not much difffrent that now as while there are some channels on the SE package that I really want there are some i never watch.  This will likely be the same. Now if Marquee is insisting on being on the regular basic cable, like for example ESPN, thus forcing all subscribers to pay for it whether they want to or not, I think it will be a long time before see Marquee on Comcast.   ... For any who are wondering, I have MLB.TV and live in Chicago. We do NOT get the Cubs or White Sox games on MLB.TV because of MLB blackout rules. Those rules are set forth by MLB so getting angry at the Cubs or Marquee for that is useless. If you live within a teams local viewing area the ONLY way to see the game is through TV in that market. In the past, that meant Cubs games were either on NBCSNChicago, WGN, ABC or some off-shoot of those channels. Since now all games (with the exception of a few national broadcasts on ESPN or Fox) will be on the Marquee network, that is the ONLY way we, at least legally, that we can see games. That means that if Comcast does not come to an agreement with Marquee we will be unable to watch Chicago Cubs games in Chicago unless we switch to another provider. MLB.TV will NOT help you unless you are outside of the local viewing area or find a way to trick your router into thinking you live in Montana or something.   ... View more

I was told that you only need to keep one service from Comcast to not break the contract. You could probably keep just internet or phone and switch to DirecTV. I will be having to do that myself if a deal is not done. I will give Comcast until May 1st though. Dont want to change for opening day and then they get a deal done 3 days later. I am very concerned that we have now reached the point where both sides will wait this out until at least May. Comcast is going to bank on the fact that we won't change providers or cut cords just because we can't watch Cubs games. Sinclar/Cubs are going to bank on the fact that we will. The only way for them to find out who is right is to wait until a month or so of the season has been played and the numbers come in. I would be shocked if there is a deal before June 1st. I don't want to leave comcast but they may force me to, unless I can figure out a way to get around the mlb.tv local blackout of games. ... View more
