My experience with the Xb6 is this, my contract is almost up and i wanted to try the gigabit service before i upgrade to the new triple play package, i have old coax, multiple spitters and a long coax run, 8 year old computers running Linux, on the 250 Mbs plan i was getting 300 Mbs wifi, on the 400 Mbs plan i was getting close to 600 Mbs wifi, now on the gigabit plan i get roughly 700 Mbs wired and 600 Mbs wifi with the XB6. I am sure my old hardware limits my speed, but the service stays the same no matter what time i check it and no disconnects that i noticed. I dont do anything fancy on the internet, but i did monitor my streaming movies and it only used 1.7 Mbs. I am worried when they redo my package for the new gigabit triple play package it might change things. I am doing this in steps so i can pinpoint exactly when it messes up and what did it if anything happens at all. Also i manage the Gateway settings manuely and on the Linux computers they are set to use googles DNS, i dont know if that effects things or not. I am happy with the XB6 and the service. Reguarding the old coax etc, i have had comcast for 25 years and never had a problem with internet and tv so i dont want to change anything, if it isnt broke dont fix it.
FYI, I have had the Quad Play package for years. I replaced my XB3 with the XB6 last November and had my tier upgraded to gigabit.
I have always had issues with my wifi connection since I got it many years ago.
I tried the XB6 wifi and it was not meeting my needs, so I purchaced the Orbi and turned off the XB6 wif.
I am happy with the Orbi and my gigabit ethernet is 900+.
