Wow, I had a similar call on Wednesday, December 26th! The guy left a message with my name and address stating that another order was received and a need to verify the information. The number he left to return the call was 800/934-6489! I called the number, it had a strange message so I hung up and called the Comcast number that's familar to me 800-266-2278. I talked with an agent who didn't find any information about a recent order and transferred me to the Billing Department! To my surprised the agent didn't see where Comcast had called me and gave me the "be careful not to divulve personal information to scammers"!
Well, well, well! I received another phone call today Saturday, December 29th but wasn't able to answer so I listened to the voicemail message! "This call is for (my name) under the account at (my address). We see that you did call in but it still haven't been confirmed or verified if this new customer did or did not have a correct address if you were or were not moving. (Ah) So we still need to confirm or verify some information, so if you could please let us know if you have any intentions on moving or if not and if this other customer may have used an incorrect address I would love to (inaudible) get that information (ah..inaudible) as still have not been able to get back in touch with the minor. The number you want to call back is 800/934-6489, again that's 800/934-6489."
I decided to look up the number first and it shows "Xfinity Customer Service". so I called and explain to the agent that it's an uncomfortable feeling coming across as scam! I let him listen to the recording that the guy left me earlier and was put on hold for a few minutes. The agent alleges that the call came from their Sales Department! I responded, "what?" "You heard the message the guy left me and it didn't sound like a sales call!" Anyway, I was told my number will be placed on the do not call list! I am still uneasy about this whole thing! This craziness is something else!
