I have been reading that others cannot get a full screen while viewing live TV on the Xfinity Beta app.
Here is one that may help out. You have to view shows in HD content in order to get the full live TV screen. Most non-HD content is on the lower single digits. An example, the CW channel is listed on channel 6 on my service and shows a smaller screen when viewing that channel.
BUT if you scroll down to the HD content into the higher numbers channels. The CW in HD is listed on channel 214 on my service and you get the full screen picture on your TV. An issue I enounter while viewing the full screen live TV is that it skips and repeats every itself more than I care to watch it again and again. So I switch back to the lower channel, where it does not do that skipping and repeating itself.
If anyone can figure out that skip and repeating issues, I'd appreciate any suggestions.
your description fits with 'device is too busy' (too many things open/running in background). It also may be a very low speed connection with your wifi router (is it too busy? too far away? too many devices?). Have you tried doing a complete device (phone/tablet) powerdown for 30 seconds then power back up and see if the same issues happens again?
