The app has been working fine on the Sharp TV for quite a while, but now a new problem has arisen. For some reason, recordings of the new season of Dr. Who (on BBC America) have a problem when played back via the App in that they blink in and out so frequently that it is really difficult to watch them. The same recordings, played back on another TV with a Roku stick, work just fine, so it is something specific to the App on the Sharp TV. Other recordings play back fine on the Sharp TV, we've just seen the problem with Dr. Who and BBC for some reason.
as you have diagnosed it is not Xfinity related. standard fix attempt is to uninstall the channel (Xfinity stream beta) and then power unplug the device (in this case your roku TV). after 30 seconds plug in and reinstall and signin again to Xfinity. be sure to accept the terms and conditions.
I tried the solution you suggested which did not solve the problem. This reminds me of a similar problem I had a while back where one channel, NBC, had no sound while all the others worked fine.
As an experiment, I just switched to BBC HD on the Sharp TV and watched a live show,not Dr Who, and I saw the same blinking, so it's not just the recordings of that particular show, it is something about that channel's signal in the App on that Roku TV.
