I purchased netgear 3.1 Modem and Netgear 7800 Router in Nov. 2018. Both are about the best you can buy and Comcast recommended the package. They told me they were changing over to 3.1 in about 9 months. I have 150 Mbps Peformance Pro Internet Package. I was getting 175Mbps on channel 5.2 with very little range but only 80 Mbps on 2.4 with better range. In Dec. my channle 2.4 droped to 23 Mbps barely runs two of my Tv's that re only 35' feet from my router. My laptop still sees 150 Mbps 50 feet away from my router on channel 5G but not my TV's. I would think a LG 65" OLED TV would have a better wireless card than a HP Probook 450 G# laptop but it doesn't. This slowdown of channel 2.4 has happnened with my last 4 modems and 5 routers over the past 19 years. I have been with Comcast since 2000. This slowdown ocurrs during the Winter months in FL. I believe it is caused by the influx of Snowbird population which increases the use of channle 2.4 by 60% during the months from Nov to May. I was told by a Comcast workman that the Comcast trunkline system which should be firber optic and not coaxial is wired in series rather than parallel which of course dilutes the bandwidth during peak usage times and everytime a new user signs on. It makes no sense for me to upgrade to a 250 Blast because those users are experiencing the same slowdown. Comcast won't fix the problem and could care less. They make excuses and usually blame the customers home wiring. Mine has been check and double check a half dozen times in the past 6 months.
