We have connected the above with male connectors to the VCR and set the VCR to Record, but no signal is recorded. It does not play on the TV when set to SD.
--3 Questions: 1) Does or should the cable SD port have a signal? 2) If not, how does one turn it on? 3) If there is a signal, what do we need to do to make the VCR play?

---Have HDTV; forced to replace old cable box equipment with X1, Model: PACE PX022ANC; XG 2v2-P; CC SN: PKQPKLLMD + remote. ---To connect the cable box to the VCR (yes, dinosaur technology) we used a composite audio/video cable (triple plug cable with yellow, red, and white plugs on each end). On the X1 box, the white plug goes into L=Audio Out, R=Red plug, SD Video Out = yellow plug. There is a plug in "Out to TV; there is a cable in "Cable In; on the far right side of the box there are microscopic words under which there is a cable. ---We are able to play old SD programs on the TV (although we don't really care about doing this). ---We realize that if it worked, we would only be able to record programs on whatever channel the cable box is tuned to at the time. ---We have an HD signal, but can't record in HD. We want to record in SD as the VCR only records in SD. So it appears that we need to convert from the HD signal to an SD in order to record on the VCR. ---Is there an adapter we can buy to convert the HD signal to SD? ---Or, is our cable box setup incorrect and so it prevents us from recording (in SD) a program from HD? What alternative setup should we try? ---Note, forum posts we already read include:
