I havent seen this issue before and would like our team to investigate. I have the exact same issue with my non-DVR X1 box. Text has been wavy (resolution is set at 1080p 60Hz) since I got the box and it won't let me install the new update. Gives me an error when I try (its not saying there isn't an update, it just says it can't be updated). Also, this box won't output 5.1 surround when watching live TV or On Demand. It will, however, output 5.1 surround when watching a DVR recording.

Anyone having an issue with a companion box where it only ouputs 5.1 surround sound when watching a recording? I've tried both my DVR and the companion box with my receiver. The DVR outputs 5.1 fine (even though the settings app displays "stereo"), but when I hook up my companion box (tried both optical and digital coax) I cannot get the thing to output 5.1 when watching live TV that I know for a fact should be in 5.1. The funny thing is, the companion box will output 5.1 when watching the same show as a recording. Should I be calling Comcast for a new companion box or is this a known software bug?
