Just picked up some hd dta boxes which came with an xr2 remote. These basic little boxes can be set up with an rf signal and the box can be hidden. Very frustrating that the non DVR X1 box cannot be paired with the remote and set up the same way. ... View more

I went through the same experience with the same result as splus12. I have my x1 non DVR in my closet. The remote ir receiver I received from comcast did not work at all but the one I bought through Monoprice worked better but inconsistently. My solution? I pulled out an old iphone that had been around as a backup, downloaded the remote app and use my iphone as a remote, other than using the cc remote to turn the tv on and off and to control the volume. I'm brand new to Comcast and have had Triple Play service for little over one week. Pairing my XR2 remote to my DVR was effortless. My HD box in my bedroom is another story. The box is located in my closet and while I've received lots of conflicting stories as to whether it will work or what I should do to make it work, it will not pair with the XR2 and will not work with an IR extender, at least not the one I have.
