For another few days, I have a triple-play bundle with Comcast. My original $99.00 charge increased gradually over the two years. Now out of contract, my monthly service will be $129.00. That's not the true cost, because the actual bill will be $182.46. The fees are never included when a package is quoted to a customer.
Before calling Comcast today and speaking with a customer service rep, I did a little research online. I found and printed out 30 different options for new customers. On my account page, I am offered 3 package options. The lowest is $119.00 for my current package. The customer service rep was only able to offer me one option for $94.99 (without TBS, TNT or any sports). Sports is not an issue with me, since I don't watch any.
It's really troubling that Comcast can offer my triple-play package to a new customer for $79.99 (including 12 months of HBO, which I don't have) and can only offer me one option when I phone in to speak about my options for service. Retention, it seems, is not the goal with Comcast.
