Except... the X1 set-top box (my X1... XG2v2-P) doesn't have 5-connector Component jacks on the rear panel, only 3-connector Composite jacks... and, of course, an HDMI jack. Talk about ruining a "wet dream"! I wish Comcast would explain that decision.
Hardly any recently-designed set top boxes provide component cables these days. Aside from the extra cost for something rarely needed, content owners really want to lock things down to the content protection scheme that HDMI provides or scale back the resolution with composite output.

I've got an Xfinity Xg1-a box, but I'm on the lookout for a Arris XG1v4 (I used to have one)...
The problem here is some of us have high-speed broadband from companies other than Comcast. I have had DSL from the day it was first available. It has been trouble free all these years, unlimited 4K viewing for us.
Because of proprietary reasons we cannot take advantage of any Comcast broadband services any more. That ended when they removed the Comcast Ultra HD Sampler app. We could still get 4K viewing from them if they replaced that app. They require people to pay for their broadband Internet to get any 4K from them now. It doesn't bother me since I can get 8K unlimited at no additional cost if I choose to replace my 3D UHD tv, or add a 8K UHD television.
