I am switching my landline to xfinity and keeping my number, when setting up modem if I connect phone jack (on wall) to modem port 1, I get dial tone but phone wont ring or go to voice and auto disconnects after 6 seconds. If I connect phone directly to modem, the phone will ring but other phones in house not directly connected to modem do not work. What is correct configuration for voice and are wireless phones the only viable option? Does this mean phone is not truly land line but rather voip? Thanks for your help.
