Comcast has assured me they have techs 24/7. I have had same exact error as you for a few weeks now. Spent an hour in online chat with customer service trying to rectify problem. He couldn't. Told me to get new box from comcast office. Then today I realized I leave my cable box on 24/7 and maybe it is just overheated? So I turned it off when I left house today. When I got home a few hours later VOD came right on. No errors whatsoever. So I tried it again and again and again. It still worked. Don't know if you leave your box on like I did but this worked for me.

I have had this error for a couple weeks now and not been able to access VOD. Kept saying "failue to connect to on demand server. Please contact comcast customer service." So I did at 5am this morning. Was in a chat with him for almost an hour. He had me plugging and unplugging. And to do that I needed to move a diplay unit in my room which in turn broke an irreplaceble item. Needless to say he kept telling me I had a weak signal and it must be MY BOX that had the problem. He wanted to send me a new box or have me take it to a local comcast office and swap it out. I said I would. Today upon leaving the house (I usually just turn off my TV and leave my cable box on) I thought what if I start turning off cable box when I leave house or when I am on computer and not using TV part? My computer is hooked to my TV for monitor. So when I left house I turned off both TV and cable box. I came home a few hours later and low and behold my VOD kicked right on!! Numerous times! I guess it was just overheated. How many other people do same thing and not turn off the cable box part? Try it you might be surprised. Now i don't need to go swap out my box. And to think I spent an hour online with this guy trying to "fix" my box and in process broke a very sentimental item.
