I recently bought TP-LINK AV500 2-port passthrough kit to have a better/faster connection between my garage/den and the router. I use a MAC in the den and it keeps saying "Ethernet has a self assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the internet". I have tried manually entering in the IP address but that has not corrected the issue. Also the router will at times just not connect to the internet when the ethernet cords are plugged into the TP-link units. It seems I may have just solved that issue, however time will tell. Is this router not compatible with the units or could it be some other issue?
Were you able to resolve the issue? I have been dealing with the same situation for over a week. It was working fine, then stopped all of a sudden. I keep getting self-assigned IP with an ethernet connection. It works fine with WIFI
