does anyone actually recieve gigabit speeds after upgrading? i feel scammed.

recently upgraded from blast to gigabit internet and was using my own gigabit modem. only ever see half the speed it says i should get and got into a long heated battle with the outsourced tech support idiots over my equipment not being supported even though it clearly was and still is listed as a supported gateway. finally had a tech come out today after contacting corporate and tech checked everything from the node inside and out and everything seemed strong and good. after speeds didnt increase with the minor changes the tech made i broke down and made him install the newest best (according to the tech) gigabit gateway the sb7. after it was installed and after they made sure they told me i was having to rent the modem if i kept it etc speeds still did not increase past 600+ mbps. only drastic change was a big bump in my upload speeds from 6mbps to 40. i feel like they offer this plan in hopes people are satisfied with the significantly slower speeds and wont complain much. i tried to change back to my preffered + blast package and they informed me it would now cost more to switch back to 200mbps internet than to keep the non working 1000mbps even though im still within my first 30 days of upgrading. so here i am forced to keep something not working as advertised, left with a modem i paid almost $300 for to save on rental fees and having to fork out a extra $14/m to rent yet another useless modem that isnt helping the problem. i am on a alienware desktop with the best of everything. my card is set 1000 full duplex and i am hard wired into the gateway. all drivers are to date and even changed my cables for the lols. what gives xfinity?

I get the full speed with my Xb7, I too have a Alienware, but I run Linux on it, since you have a Dell, check for a program called smartbyte, it ships with Dell computers and it limits download speeds, some have reported it cuts the download speed in half, just a thought

I believe they are doing everything they can to just keep us feeling a 'bit better' and that we wont spend time complaining.  They are making a killing on not providing what we are paying for.

Keep in mind that just because you have the capcity - doesn't assure that the sending / responding IP address has 1GB of bandwidth for you.  That's rarely ever the case.  You, in many cases, have a faster connection than many servers.
