business internet and residential in the same apartment

I was told that all I would need is a splitter to have both business internet and residential internet in the same apartment.  But I found out this is not the case.  The tech has to pull another line and drill another hole into the house.  I am moving soon.  Landlord will not allow drilling another hole.  The apt has residential internet.  My question is why do some techs say a splitter will solve this problem which clearly is not the case.  What am I missing?

Residential and Business Class use the same infrastructure. If your power levels are fine, then there isn't a reason you can't use a splitter.

Re: business internet and residential in the same apartment

I have no clue but that's what the tech said.  They look at me like I was crazy.  So I would like to get accurate information before I order business internet in my new apt.  Does it have to do with the residential cable being old?
