When I got up today my WiFi light on the modem was rapidly flashing. This has never done this before and I have had this specific modem for a year. This is a Comcast modem and there is no router on the system. No other changes in the house as far as computer, phones or data devices. Exactly as it has been in the past. Why is it flashing now and not before...what has changed?

Mine is doing the same thing exactly, and it never blinked like this before even when we were using the wifi. Now it is blinking rapidly and at the same rate, non-stop. I mean it never stops at all--blinking for hours now, no let-up, constant and very fast. Any ideas?
ya,. covering is not really a good fix.. maybe actually have the thing work proper ... ya know.. like it always did before.. oh wait,.. that would actually make sense...
A phone call will get you nowhere with this, they probably wont have any idea what you are talking about. :0 always good to vent though!

On most Comcast gateways the wifi light is supposed to flash as long is it communicating to a wireless device. The only way to turn it off is to disconnect all your devices from wifi or disable the wifi on the gateway. It should be flashing under normal use.
The download speed on my wired-in desktop is 135 mbps but for my new laptop it's 18 mbps. The uploads for both are about the same (23 or so.) The light on my router wifi ALWAYS is flashing rapidly. Please help with info on what might be wrong or what to do to about both. Thanks.
