Why doesn't speed match on owned and supported equipment?

I was receiving gigabit speeds (roughly 960 mbps) over WiFi using

1. TECHNICOLOR CGM4140COM
2. ASUS PCE-AC88 AC3100 4x4 802.11AC PCIe Adapter

I replaced the TECHNICOLOR CGM4140COM with

1. NETGEAR Cable Modem CM1000
2. NETGEAR Nighthawk Smart WiFi Router (R6700) - AC1750

Now I'm maxing out around 250 mbps.

Both the NETGEAR products should support those speeds. The NETGEAR modem is listed under https://mydeviceinfo.xfinity.com/. The Nighthawk router claims to support 1750 mbps.

Can anyone provide some help?

For a test, what do you get with the computer connected directly to the CM1000 modem (no router in the mix) ?

Also post the upload speeds for both conditions.
