Upstream power levels question.

Upstream power levels question.

Not a complaint but more of a question out of curiosity. I'm on blast teir (250/10) in Ct. with a self purchased Arris SB8200.

Speed and reliability are very good with downstream usually (240 - 280 Mbps) and upstream (10 - 12 Mbps).

Seems like my upstream power levels are low compared to what Arris states in their documents for this modem.

My downstream levels are within spec according to what Arris states in their documents for this modem.

Are these upstream power levels way out of spec. and need adjustment? I'm happy with the service as its performing

now but I'm curious if these levels will effect me when and if Gigabit service is available in my area? Should I just leave it

as is?

Re: Upstream power levels question.

The functional range of the modem is much wider than the specifications. If it's functioning acceptably, I wouldn't worry about it. But yes those levels are out of spec. There isn't actually anything you can do about it - a tech would have to make adjustments if you're having issues.

Thanks nerdburg for taking the time to field this! I'll leave it as is.
