Uncorrectable Errors, Netgear CM600, Extreme Internet

My test speeds are all over the place.  Range from 7mbps to 300mbps.  Tons of uncorrectable errors and several channels not locked, as below.  Log and Cable Stats below.  These clips were taken less than an hour after a factory reset.  Service call needed?  Thanks for reading...

Re: Uncorrectable Errors, Netgear CM600, Extreme Internet

Man your connection is terrible. Here are some things you can try before getting a tech visit;

In a self troubleshooting effort to try to obtain better connectivity / more wiggle room, check to see if there are there any excess/unneeded coax cable splitters in the line leading to the modem that can be eliminated/re-configured. Any splitters that remain should be high quality and cable rated for 5-1002 MHz, bi-directional, and no gold colored garbage types like GE, RadioShack, RCA, Philips, Leviton, Magnavox, and Rocketfish from big box stores like Home Depot, Lowes, Target, Wal-Mart etc. Splitters should be swapped with known to be good / new ones to test

If there aren't any unneeded splitters that can be eliminated and if your coax wiring setup can't be reconfigured so that there is a single two way splitter connected directly off of the drop from the street/pole with one port feeding the modem and the other port feeding the rest of the house/equipment with additional splits as needed, and you've checked all the wiring and fittings for integrity and tightness and refresh them by taking them apart then check for and clean off any corrosion / oxidation on the center wire and put them back together again, then perhaps it's best to book a tech visit to investigate and correct.

Bear in mind that if you get a tech visit, and they find the problem to be with your wiring / hardware, there will be a charge.

Thanks for the reply.  That's exactly what I have, Comcast installed probably 15+ years ago (whenever I got off DSL).  Box outside splits HSD and CTV.  Cables inside are the HD stuff Comcast installers use.  Already loosened/tighted the outside box connections a couple times.  I've been in the house for 30 years with same drop forever, so probably time for someone to climb a pole...   Comcast did recently put a filter on the CTV line (post-split) for DVR, but that shouldn't matter.  Thanks again for the suggestions.

EDIT - OK, now TV is offline, too, guess they're checking it out...

Re: Uncorrectable Errors, Netgear CM600, Extreme Internet

O/k if the problem is with the drop line itself, or anything on their side of the demarcation point / grounding block, there should not be a charge. Please post back with how things turn out, thanks. Good luck !

Re: Uncorrectable Errors, Netgear CM600, Extreme Internet

@EG   Tech came out and checked signals, found them to be marginal at the pole.  He replaced the 30+ year-old drop, ground, and the 15 year-old spitter in the demarc and put in a ticket for the signal.  Team checked out the signal the next day and resolved.  Cleared the errors on the modem and running clean now for about the past day.  I've setup a job to monitor the DL/UL/Pings.  Seems to have stabilized around 270/22.  Thanks to all for responses and suggestions.
