Problem Solver

The modem keeps resetting itself.

every 2 or 3 mins it resets itself. I been having problems recently with connecting to my xbox 360 also I have to reset the modem every time I start up my xbox or computer and I'm paying for an extra IP so I don't know what could be the problem.

Re: The modem keeps resetting itself.

As KevJ states, you have an RF signal / connection quality problem.

What is the exact make and model number of the modem ?

Are there any excess/unneeded coax cable splitters in the line leading to the modem that can be eliminated/re-configured ?

If there aren't any unneeded splitters that can be eliminated and if your coax wiring setup can't be reconfigured so that there is a single two way splitter connected directly off of the drop from the street/pole with one port feeding the modem and the other port feeding the rest of the house/equipment with additional splits as needed and you've checked all the wiring and fittings for integrity and tightness and refresh them by taking them apart then putting them back together again, then perhaps it's best to book a tech visit to investigate and correct.

Re: The modem keeps resetting itself.

Foward path

Signal acquired at:741.000 MHz

SNR: 36.1 DB

Reciever signal strength -11.4Dmbv

return path

Frequency 30.6 mhz

power level: 54.0 dmbv

I just tightened up the cable line that goes to the modem it was kinda loose so far the modem hasn't reset.

OK...if you took this reading before you tightened the cable line, what does it show after? Both your upstream and downstream power levels are out of spec, based on what you posted,which could be indicative of a loose connector. Check the levels again and re-post.
