Switching to a different cable jack

Hello, wanting to do some rearranging. Thought it was simple enough to move my modem and tv setup over to another cable jack, but unable to connect to the interent it seems. Can I just get an extension cord? Does it need to be wired for the internet? Not tech savvy at all here. Thanks!

You'll have to see where the house cable feed is connected to your house internal wiring/jacks.  It could be you have multiple coax cables running from the external feed to different room jacks, but only one is connected.

Backtrack through your house, possibly not every cable is hooked up (rarely is) to see what you can do.Or have a tech out with accompanying service charge
