Suddenly SLOOOWWW upload speed

I have looked through some forums and seen similar posts to this and the issue seems to usually be resolved, unfortunately I don't know that much about internet speeds and cant figure out what to do myself to fix it. I have the 150 Mbps download speed plan and my speeds have been around 80 down/10 up which has been fine for me. For about a week now my download speed has been normal, but my upload has gone down to between 1 and 3 Mbps. Everyone has a vice for after a hard day's work and mine is my PlayStation, but this upload speed has made my games almost unplayable with lag. I'm not sure what happened, I didn't change any settings or anything. I'm using a Netgear cm700 modem with a r6700 nighthawk router that I purchased, and my PlayStation is connected via Ethernet cable. The bad up speed is about the same with WiFi and ethernet. Like I said, it's been fine up until a week ago. Please help! Thank you

Re: Suddenly SLOOOWWW upload speed

If you want to troubleshoot this yourself, please see Connection Troubleshooting Tips. If you still need help, please provide Information Requested for Connection-Related Posts. Problems with Internet service is often due to a poor connection between your equipment and Comcast's network, usually in or near your home.

If you are using Wifi it's best to switch to an Ethernet cable connection if possible while measuring speed and checking the reliability of your connection to Comcast.

If you can't find the problem or you'd rather have Comcast do the troubleshooting, call them at the phone number on your bill or 1-800-Comcast, or chat with them using the Internet Support option at https://support.xfinity.com/chat. If they can't fix the problem remotely, insist they send a tech out to identify the cause and correct it.

If the tech finds bad coax, splitters, amplifiers, or connections in your home (even if Comcast originally supplied them) you'll probably have to pay for the visit unless you have their Service Protection Plan (https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/service-protection-plan, closed to customers that don't already have it). If the trouble is due to a faulty Comcast rental device, or anything outside your home, you shouldn't be charged.

I do not really know how to read them. Unfortunately I do not have a computer with an ethernet port and the playstation 4 doesn't load up netgear genie past the login screen, so it is over wifi. I was able to do a speed test in the playstation browser while it was connected directly to my modem via ethernet and it does get almost identical speeds as my devices connected to wifi. I have a netgear cm700 modem with a nighthawk ac1750 router. The lights on my modem are just lit up solid when im having issues, which has been constant for the past 4-5 days. My upload speeds vary from under 1 mbps to 3 mbps, while my down speeds are great. But i think it's the upload speeds that are messing up my gaming. Ive only had this service and router/modem setup for a few months and everything has been fine up until now. I havent contaced comcast yet, trying to see if anyone knows what to do. Thank you.

The downstream power levels are borderline/too low. The upstream power is too high, and only one channel has bonded where there should be 3 or 4. You should have Comcast send out a tech to fix this.

Okay, that's exactly what I needed to know.

Thank you very much.

Re: Suddenly SLOOOWWW upload speed

Hi again, I called Comcast and they said everything looks fine when he tested it remotely and told me to troubleshoot with don't for my PlayStation. But from what you can tell I am having issues that Comcast would be able to fix right? What I'm asking is if I should insist on them sending a tech out. Thank you

Can you post another set of downstream and upstream signals? The problem may very well be intermittent.

It was just really acting up a few minutes ago.

Re: Suddenly SLOOOWWW upload speed

It's just so frustrating because it was working great a week ago. And the modem and router are only a couple months old. So i really think its something with my internet not my equipment. I just wish I knew more about this stuff, so I really appreciate you taking the time to help me.

As before, the downstream power levels are borderline/too low. The upstream power levels are all borderline/too high, and although there are now four channels, one of them is Not Locked.

If the previously posted Troubleshooting link doesn't help you, you should have Comcast send out a tech to fix this.
