Splitting xfinity router

I need to connect a device to my router but only 2.5 GHz. When I try connecting it , the message indicates it must be 2.5 GHz. Any ideas on how to split it without loosing signal strength.?

Re: Splitting xfinity router

If you are not using any Xfi Pods, you can try separating the 2.4 and the 5.0 bands and give them two different broadcast names / SSID's;

Associate the devices with the 2.4 band's SSID (broadcast name) and password.
