Routing issue resulting in high latency and packet loss.

I recently moved to south carolina and activated my new internet. I have the 150 down 10 up package but I'm getting high pings to every server that I've tested. I get 40 ping to Charleston, SC, where I live and 60 ping to virginia servers.

I spent the last day troubleshooting and I think the cause of it is a routing issue within comcast. No matter what server I attempt to ping, it always takes me through a miami comcast server before going there. I think this might be the cause of my high ping, I have spent 2 hours on the phone with customer support going through the basic fixes with resetting my modem, etc. I do have a tech support agent coming out this week, I just wanted to know if this is the cause of my high ping or has anything to do with it?

Thanks
