Re: Have 200MB/s Internet Pkg - Actual ~40MB/s

I am yet another dissatisfied customer, with the same disparity between package specs and actual speed test results. Current testing shows 61Gbs download, against the 200 I've been paying for, after who knows how many months. I connect directly with Cat5 Ecable, and my Intel Gigabit Net card tests everything fine, to 1Gbs to and from the modem. The issue is clearly between my modem and the Internet at large. I was not even aware of the discrepancy until I recently switched the router to the one Xfinity told me to upgrade, promising vague improvements I just fail to see, and the tech at the local store pointed out to me the speed I was paying for, but not close to achieving.

About the only mod I could change was Jumbo packets, from Disabled to something, with zero affect at all. There is a clear bottleneck somewhere, which the company seems disinterested in troubleshooting for its customer base - a captive audience, after all, which they keep trying to upsell voice gizmos, security cams, blah blah. I see no reason to add even more unwanted stuff to an account which fails to deliver the service already promised.

FWIW, jumbo frames (JF) gets you the two or three additional percent of theoretical max when you've already tuned your enviroment; it's not a magic bullet to get you from 60 Mb/s to 200 Mb/s (think more like you're already getting 950 Mb/s and and adding JF gets you to 970 Mb/s) and requires JF enabled from end to end to be useful; not bloody likely for the wild wild internet.

I feel your pain.   I assume you have checked your modem for upstream/downstream signal/power problems correct?
