Netgear CM1000 Issues

Hello,

 

I have been having issues with internet.  No splitters, but the connection keeps dropping for few seconds and recovering.  I see all the lights solid when the connections drop.  It happed with SB6190 and so I purchased brand new CM1000 and 75 ohm cable from bestbuy.  I checked the logs and did find the following issue:

As you notice there was a small blip for 2 seconds.

I have tech coming out on tuesday.  But any help will be greatly appreaciated.  Thank you in advance.

Hi @AP2019

You definitely have some signal impairment. Physically inspect your wiring and remove any unneeded splitters.  Do you have other services like TV? Does that work okay?

No just internet and I do not have any splitters.  My cable is connected from wall outlet to cable modem.   The cable I purchased yesterday (12 ft) from bestbuy was an exchange for 6 ft.  Cable modem is 1 week old also from bestbuy.

The power levels are now down compared to my previous reading

So the issue was the cable was chewed by some squirrels during summer outside in my backyard.  There was atleast 4 inches of bare wire exposed, it gotten worse during snow storm/extreme cold temperatures last week.  The tech spend some time to check internal wiring and it was all good.  Once in the backyard it took him 30 minutes to find the issue as the exposed are on the cable was hidden behind my backyard door.  As soon as the cable was replaced, everything is back to normal.  No drops or restarts.  I cleared the log after the tech left and it has been clean since then.  Thanks @Nerdburg for your reply.
