What is the exact make and model number of the modem ?
Is this a WiFi connection ?
I've replaced the cable modem. The first few times the internet went down, Comcast said there was an issue with their equipment. When the outage occurred the last time, they said it was definitely my cable modem. I questioned them about their change of culpability and was told they determined their equipment was fine. Uh, okay. Not being a Network guy and desparately needing my internet, I decided to just buy another one. I had a Motorola MB7420 and replaced it with an Arris SB6190. After I replaced it, it went out a couple more time, perhaps coincidentally, perhaps not, but then Comcast performed some service "in the area" and I haven't had an outage since. My sneaky suspicion is that there was always a problem with Comcast's equipment, but since I depend on Comcast Internet I replaced the modem as soon as they told me to. On the plus side I have a new cable modem, but it could have been their equipment all along.
