Modem/ Router Purchase Help?

Hi,

I'd like to buy my own compatable xfinity modem/router (don't need phone). I was looking at the Arris TG1682G but heard it was not very good (junk).

Thanks,

The 1682 is not approved for purchase. Approved retail devices are listed at https://mydeviceinfo.xfinity.com/.

Follow the link Brucew provided for private equipment, your link is for Comcast rentals (and not available for retail).

Thanks, Andrew

So, Comcast will not activate a previous rental unit bought on the secondary market used?

Re: Modem/ Router Purchase Help?

No, it may get activated but you’ll still be charged a monthly rental fee. It’s Comcast owned equipment that was never returned. As always, if it looks to good to be true, it usually is. Buyer beware

Comcast takes the postion that, if a device is not listed on https://mydeviceinfo.xfinity.com/ and does not appear on http://mydeviceinfo.g.comcast.net/ with a check mark in the "Retail" column, it is not legit for retail purchase.

As previously stated, they may not activate it. And if they do, they are likely to charge the rental fee for it.
