Hello, I'm desperate for help.
my internet connection goes down multiple times a day and I'm beyond frustrated. I have an Arris Surfboard modem SB6183 and a TPLink mesh network (S4).
I've replaced both modem and mesh equipment and nothing helped. I moved the equipment to connnect to the coax that comes into the house from the street. That didn't help.
I've tried everything I know to do and still, this keeps happening and has been going on for months now. Please help me figure this out, Comcast is my only option for internet.
Are you connecting via Wifi or Ethernet? If Wifi, it's best to switch to an Ethernet cable connection if possible. That would allow you to determine whether the problem is the Wifi signal or the link between your equipment and Comcast's network. Network connection problems that affect both Ethernet and Wifi devices are often due to poor coax connections or damaged coax cable, usually in or near your home.
If you want to troubleshoot this yourself, please see Internet Troubleshooting Tips. If you still need help, please post your modem or gateway's model number and signal information, especially downstream power levels and SNR, upstream power levels, and error log.
If you can't find the problem or you'd rather have Comcast take care of it, call them at the phone number on your bill or 1-800-Comcast, or use one of the options on https://www.xfinity.com/support/contact-us/. If they can't fix the problem remotely, insist they send a tech out to identify the cause and correct it.
If the tech finds bad coax, splitters, amplifiers, or connections in your home (even if Comcast originally supplied them) you'll probably have to pay for the visit unless you have their Service Protection Plan (https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/service-protection-plan, closed to customers that don't already have it). If the trouble is due to a faulty Comcast rental device, or anything outside your home, you shouldn't be charged.

I'll post logs tomorrow so I can try to do this myself.
If the typical network connection problems are related to poor coax connections or damaged coax cable, then it has to be outside because right now, the modem is connected to the coax that comes into the house.
With respect to the Internet Troubleshooting Tips:
* I have restarted the modem so many times to get my network back online I can't even count any more.
* There are no network interruptions and my equipment is all compatible and current.
* The issues are modem/ signal based, not wi-fi / router based.
I'll check signal levels and post logs tomorrow. Looking forward to your thoughts!

I also checked the event log which shows a ton of critical errors.... how do I address these??

The power levels are out of spec. Downstream is too low, and Upstream is too high. The error log entries are most likely the result of these signal problems.
If you cannot fix this yourself you should have Comcast take care of it as stated above.

Please see the "Inspect cabling", "Check F-Connectors", and "Check the quality/status of all splitters" sections of Internet Troubleshooting Tips. If you can't fix it, call Comcast.
