Internet disconnects at around the same time every night

Every night my interent disconnects at around the same time. (8-9pm PST).

If I unplug/replug the modem then it recovers.

If I wait the modem eventually reboots and the issue is resolved.

Looking at the modem event logs I see:

Reading other posts it seems this could be a noise issue?  Why would noise happen only at particular times of day and for a very small window?  I have already replaced my modem once and the same issue still persists.

Any ideas?

Please also post the *Downstream Power Level*, the *Upstream Power Level*, and the *SNR* (Signal to Noise Ratio) numbers.

Re: Internet disconnects at around the same time every night

Even though the signal stats looked o/k at that snapshot in time, the error log entries confirm that something is going on. Perhaps there is noise ingress into the line(s) somewhere.

There are other signal stat figures that can't be read by the modem. They are the "Upstream Rx Power" (Upstream Receive Power Level), the "Upstream SNR Ch." (Upstream Signal To Noise Ratio), and the "Upstream ICFR" (In Channel Frequency Response). These are as equally important in diagnosing connectivity issues as are the modem's stats.

I'm going to escalate your issue to the Comcast corporate employees that are available to these boards. They can check the CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System) for any real time degradation and / or error reports, see your node / cable plant and modem health, and see whether or not everything is in the green zone. They can also see a history plot for the modem and poll for those upstream receive signal stats.

You should get a reply here in your topic. Good luck !

Re: Internet disconnects at around the same time every night

I am now getting more disconnects and they are happening at other times of day.

I confirmed my neighbor has internet outage the same times I do.

Maybe it is the local equipment?

Hello CaptCastaway. Thank you for joining the Xfinity Forums and for creating your first post. I can help with further troubleshooting your Internet connectivity issues. I'd like to start with polling the CMTS for real-time and historical RF signal reports from your modem. I can also check your local Node/Plant for any degradation or error reports. Please send me a private message and include your full name so I can access your equipment. To send a private message: click my name (ComcastJoeTru) to view my profile. Then click the link that says "Send a message" and there you can private message me.
