I am able to "block" a device (I recognize the MAc address) on my personal WiFi network using the Admin interface (my version of parental controls).
However the device can easily get on the default xfinitywifi network.
How do I block the device from getting on that xfinitywifi network as I do not see a feature within the Admin tool.
Solved! Go to Solution.
The only option that I know if is to disable it.
What does one do when there are other nearby neighbor's and / or strand mounted Xfinity public hotspots available RobertWy....?
I'm having this same problem. My kid gave out the hotspot information to his friends. Now they can go anywhere in town and using my credentials. I changed my user name and password but it makes no difference if they accessed it through my hotspot PW. I'd have to gain access to every laptop, tablet, and phone and log them out though wifilogout.comcast.net I've done that with the few that came over, but for the kids that they told... It's ridiculous that once someone is set up you have to confiscate their device to kick them off your network.
I've called numerous comcast agents and none of them know what I'm talking about. They just say that since I changed my UN & PW it "should" work. Many even get mad like I'm making it up. Not my fault they're not trained well. I see a lot of people with this problem and Comcast's excuse seems to be that since it shouldn't happen on their end I shouldn't be experiencing it. But I am...
I know the solution. It hasn't been mentioned here yet. Personally, I'd be torn between allowing the kids to continue utilizing your account (it does no harm and takes none of your bandwidth when they're connected somewhere else) and kicking them off. If one of them accessed illegal content such as child porn, the FBI might break down your door, but would ultimately clear you of wrongdoing.
At any rate, changing the password/email will stop them from adding additional devices, but to remove the existing ones, follow this link! https://www.xfinity.com/support/internet/manage-wifi-devices-my-account/
A maximum of 20 devices can be added to your account, and any ones you do not recognize or desire to have access can be removed by following the directions in that link.
