Hi! - I need a second IP for my Arris SB8200 modem to use a router

Xfinity already approved one IP address and my PC works great connected directly to the modemvia ethernet but I just discovered I need a separate IP address for my router.

@ComcastAlly  was able to assist another customer per this thread: https://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Your-Home-Network/Getting-a-second-IP-address-for-my-SB8200-Modem/td-p...

TIA for any assistance!

First check the rate card for your area and see if it is even available anymore;

Thanks @EG  this is all a bit confusing.  Here's my situation: I purchased an ARRIS SB8200 because it was on the approved list provided by Xfinity for my Blast plan 150mbps.

From what I see, there is only one CableCARD $0.00 listed on the rate card you mentioned.

Am I to infer that Comcast isn't going to allow me to use separate 3rd party modem and router? If so, why is this not available? Am I only allowed to use a modem router combo like ARRIS SBG8300?

Cable cards have nothing to do with it. They are for TV service. What you are looking for under the "Xfinity internet" heading is "Additional Dynamic IP addresses". If you don't see anything listed then it is likely to not be available.

You are allowed to use any cable modem or combo gateway device that is listed on their "Approved Modems List" here:  https://mydeviceinfo.xfinity.com/customerinfo

And you can use any stand-alone router that you like.
