Help with Gigabit Internet speeds

Hi, I'm looking for help trying to get near gigabit speeds at least some of the time. Right now my average speed for a week is 80Mbps down and 27.9Mbps up. My peak speed is 291.8Mbps down with 39.9Mbps up at 11:35PM on  a Wed night. This data is collected from Fing. The fastest speed that a sigle device plugged into my modem reached is 400Mbps (including a technicians laptop that could achieve gigabit speed). My modem is ARRIS SB8200 and router is ASUS RT-AC5300. I'm also running a TP-Link 24-Port Gigabit switch with CAT6 cable (The technician used his cable when he tested from my modem and an xfinity modem he brought to test with). I basically upgraded everything for gigabit and I'm not even close. My problem with this is my recent download speeds have been lower than my upload speeds. This forum is my last resort before I downgrade my package.

Re: Help with Gigabit Internet speeds

That is a very helpful guide. I forgot to mention I've gone over it. I'll read through again to make sure I have everything covered. Any other suggested items I can buy or test in the meantime?

Re: Help with Gigabit Internet speeds

I upgraded to Gigabit with a new Arris SB8200 Modem. I see my plan is showing Gigabit, but with Xfinity speed test and Speedest.net I'm Still only at a max of 150mbps down. This is a direct connection between the modem and my PC. Any ideas on what I can do. I followed the steps in the guide listed earlier verbatim.

The tech that came out used his modem during the test so I should be able to rule out the modem; however, I'm going to call Arris and see what they can offer. I have a splitter, but every person I talk to say it's not an issue since the signals on the modem are fine. If Arris can't help I'm going to buy new coax cable to remove the splitter. After that, I've litteraly upgraded everything that I can.

Tried moving mine directly to the drop and still can't get better than 200 down.

Can anyone from Xfinity chime in?

Re: Help with Gigabit Internet speeds

This thread might help.

Also, I don't see the latest speed test - I only see a blank placeholder image. Is that with the computer directly connected to the SB8200?

EDIT : Looks like there are two separate customer issues here.  @mtoo22, please post your issues - in detail - in a separate thread so we don't get mixed up here.

Re: Help with Gigabit Internet speeds

Your downstream power levels are a little high, and your upstream power levels are a little low - is there an amplifier on the line somewhere?

Re: Help with Gigabit Internet speeds

Since that post, I've had two different tech visits and temporarily changed to an Xfinity modem. It didn't help so its going back today.

There is no amplifier and both technicians testing signal and both said they are good. The second tech replaced all the coax inside so I don't have a splitter anymore.

Last person I chatted with said my speeds were not throttled and put in a ticket for additional support. Fingers crossed, maybe This will get me above 400 Mbps. A person I work with finally got gigabit speeds (only for a single day) so I still have hope.
