Have to Recycle Power on Xfinity Modem/Router Constantly

I have to constantly unplug and reply my new Xfinity modem/router in order to use the Internet. They ran a new line from the box outside due to issues so it shouldn’t be that. Is there anything on the setup of the router I should update or could it be the wall outlet?

Thank you!

No way for us to know without more information.

If you want to troubleshoot this yourself, please see Internet Troubleshooting Tips. If you still need help, please post the following information from your modem or gateway:

  • model number
  • downstream power levels and SNR
  • upstream power levels
  • error log

Where can I get the downstream and upstream info for you?

Try http://192.168.100.1 or http://10.0.0.1. If you can't find them, you'll need to get Comcast back out again to see what's going on.

Re: Have to Recycle Power on Xfinity Modem/Router Constantly

The signal stats looked o/k at that snapshot in time  Perhaps there is noise ingress into the line(s) somewhere.

There are other signal stat figures that can't be read by the modem. They are the "Upstream Rx Power" (Upstream Receive Power Level), the "Upstream SNR Ch." (Upstream Signal To Noise Ratio), and the "Upstream ICFR" (In Channel Frequency Response). These are as equally important in diagnosing connectivity issues as are the modem's stats.

As per @BruceW request, I'm going to escalate your issue to the Comcast corporate employees that are available to these boards. They can check the CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System) for any real time degradation and / or error reports, see your node / cable plant and modem health, and see whether or not everything is in the green zone. They can also see a history plot for the modem and poll for those upstream receive signal stats.

You should get a reply here in your topic. Good luck !
