Gateway goes offline and comes back much slower speed

My gateway has been going offline or resetting everyday for the past month approx.  Usually in the AM between 8 and 10.  I see it go down sometimes while I am setting here and other times I just notice the speed change.  My contract calls for 150 Mbps which I used to see and often higher.  This current "reset" is comming back online at 30 Mbps approx.

I have spent a good deal of time on the phone to Xfinity - a tech came and checked out all the lines and connection and replaced the gateway -  system ran up to speed for an hour after he left and then slowed down

The TV has not been affected by any of this and is on the same physical cable of course - the TV is 40 foot further down the cable

I have made sure that the gateway and the computer are all on a surge protective connection

I have reset the gateway multiple times a day by various methods - remove the power [sometimes to just the gateway other times to the whole computer desk area] - having the xfinity website restart the gateway - have the xfinity rep on the phone do their checks and restarts - pressing the restart "button" on the gateway

On the wild chance of bad luck with the techs gateway I went the the xfinity store yesterday and exchanged my gateway

These all are a "sometimes" result - the speed may or may not go back up to 150 -  even if it does it will go back to 30 within an hour or so.

This is an all electric house but I have not noticed any of the power fluctuations you might expect to cause a problem with equipment - I have several clocks which are very sensitive to power problems

I would hope someone with xfinity/comcast will take an interest in my frustration!

Re: Gateway goes offline and comes back much slower speed

What do the modem's signal stats look like ? Try getting them here http://192.168.100.1 or here http://10.0.0.1

Please post the *Downstream Power Level*, the *Upstream Power Level*, and the *SNR* (Signal to Noise Ratio) numbers.

What is the exact make and model number of the gateway device ?

This is the right address for that device:  http://10.0.0.1

The default username is admin and the default password is password

Re: Gateway goes offline and comes back much slower speed

There appears to be some signal problems with a few of the downstream channels. Plesase also post the modem's RF error / event log entries.

Is this perhaps what you are asking for?

Re: Gateway goes offline and comes back much slower speed

It may be best for you to get a tech out to investigate this one. Good luck ! Please post back with how things turn out.

Re: Gateway goes offline and comes back much slower speed

I appreciate your time and effort -

In glancing thru some of the messages in the forum, I note that occasionally there is an entry from a comcast employee.  Is there a way to attract their attention or must one just wait and hope my problem interests them?

Re: Gateway goes offline and comes back much slower speed

It will be faster if you just call 1800comcast to book a tech.
