Foscam Cameras not working outside the house on app

Hey there!

I thought I was a bit more tech savvy than this but I am for sure not.

We have two cameras, one FI8910W and one FI8916W. We have a Linksys E1000 router and use xfinity with comcast. We USED to be able to access our cameras outside the house on our iphone apps and now we can not. We also have two vue zone camears which work fine outside the house and send us images via email.

But we want to be able to see inside the house when away from home.

I'm not sure what happened but when we had a new comcast box and router put in it all went haywire.

I have checked that the firewall settings are completely off.

My cameras still send the motion capture images to my webspace online but we're still unable to gain access on our iphone apps.

The cameras can be accessed on the apps when we are at home.

Weird? Can anyone give me a step by step please?

Re: Remote Access to Home Network

Describe exactly what 'new Comcast box and router' were installed please. Give us the make and model numbers, and how they are connected.

Re: Remote Access to Home Network

Did the Public IP address (WAN Address change when you installed the new comcast box?  Did you change the IP address in your Iphone App to match the new IP address?

Re: Remote Access to Home Network

Sorry had to relogin -

We have the Xfinity Arris Cable box

A cisco E1000 V2 router linksys

Mac computer connect by ethernet cord - this computer is our internet wifi base

2 Foscam cameras

I did disable all firewall settings through comcast administration panel.

The IP for the device says is http://192.168.1.132: followed by the port number

When I type into the browser, what is my ip, it comes up with a completely different number starting with 174...

I set up port forwarding through the linksys router.

I can't set it up through the comcast, it says the subnet mask doesn't match or something similar to that.

Re: Remote Access to Home Network

This I'm sorry for, what is the different between the WAN and the regular but at the moment it says our WAN IP is

174.56.195.29

When I put this information into the settings of my iphone app the cameras don't show up at all.

Re: Foscam Cameras not working outside the house on app

I had the same thing happen to me when my cable modem was replaced, took a long time to figure it out, but to make a long story short, my cable modem had to be in bridge mode. Once that was enabled, my existing router was once again able to feed Foscam live images to my cell phone. If you didn't change your modem, I'd make sure they didn't change the IP address of your modem, you can check this at http://whatismyipaddress.com/ and make sure it is the same IP being used by your phone app to access the cameras.

So the same ip is definately not being used.

But I thought all modems were in Bridge mode? I have no idea how to turn that on.

Re: Foscam Cameras not working outside the house on app

It sounds like you need to change the IP on your phone app to be the same as your modem... as for bridge mode, there are other topics on this forum that tackle this issue, so no need to go over that in a separate topic.
