Does the XB7 require sidecars?

The specs says the XB7 supports phone and XHome but I don't see anywhere to connect it.

Does that mean I have to have a tech visit to install support?

Re: New XB7 Gateway

Will my Win10 hardware/software work with the XB7 without any updates?

___________
Top 2 ports are phone. The phone icon is in the middle of the 2 ports

I don't think any device will care about what is providing the networking as long as it's compliant with Wifi/Ethernet standards.

That is what I presumed, but had to check anyway.  I have one Win8.1 computer and it works with my XB6 - it just can't get gigabit speeds.

Can't find it but I believe you.  I will try some more googling.

In regards to XHome support, my XB6 has it built-in so I will go with it built-in to the XB7.

Thanks for the reply.

Re: New XB7 Gateway

OK, I found a Youtube video of an unboxing and I see where the phone lines go.

The XB7 is truly just an upgrade of the XB6, not like my previous upgrades.

I'm nervous about doing a self-install; I've always had a truck roll for all previoous upgrades.

The Comcast self-install video doesn't seem to cover an upgrade, just an install.

I will check out the kit when I get it to see if it covers an upgrade.  Otherwise, I may have to try phone support.
