I have turned on the firewall settings and disabled WAN-LAN access for http and https (see picture).
However when I go to the public IP using https, I am still able to get to the admin console. HTTP is blocked but HTTPS seems to continue to provide access. How can I prevent this from happening? I do not want to be able to see the modem admin from the internet.

I do not want to be able to see the modem admin from the internet.
This is not an issue as the LAN IP addresses that are being used for the admin / user interface pages are in non-routable private IP ranges so they can't traverse the WAN / public internet.
Thanks EG for taking the time to respond.
My question, perhaps it was not clear, was about the PUBLIC/WAN IP address of the cable modem - the one you can see by looking at myipaddress.com etc. I was specifically asking about the public IP address of the cable modem being able to be connected to from the Internet. By using hte firewall on the cable modem/router I was able to block port 80 access on this ip address. but the 443 access does not seem to be able to be blocked.
Any one else in the forum tried this and had it work?
The only way the LAN interface is accessible outside your network is if remote management is on. By default its off, so nothing to worry about.
