Constant connection issues

Constant connection issues

Been having this issue for more than a couple of months now. My brother games on WiFi, so I expect him to have issues sometimes. But I game and I’m wired, so there’s got to be something up.
Everything will run fine sometimes, but sometimes it’s a constant struggle to do anything, whether your gaming, streaming movies, or just browsing the internet. It’s super frustrating when I’m off work and can’t do anything via internet.
I’ll reboot the modem and it says everything is fine, start another game online and keep getting booted. Or start streaming Netflix and it’ll keep buffering

Re: Constant connection issues

What do the modem's signal stats look like ? Try getting them here http://192.168.100.1 or here http://10.0.0.1

Please post the *Downstream Power Level*, the *Upstream Power Level*, and the *SNR* (Signal to Noise Ratio) numbers.

What is the exact make and model number of the modem ?

Re: Constant connection issues

No. Those are the router component's errors of the gateway device. Not helpful. We were looking for the modem component's entries. If you a re using a Comcast supplied gateway device, we've seen recent posts here indicating that with some models, a recent firmware update has made them inaccessible.

I’ve been wanting to get my own modem/router, any suggestions?

Re: Constant connection issues

Which speed-tier are you subscribed to ? Do you also have their phone service ? Do you want a combo modem / router gateway device or separate components ? The latter is more so recommended.

My plan is up to 150 mbps.
I want whatever is the best option for performance

Re: Constant connection issues

O/k so you didn't answer if you have their phone service ? That said, If you are not planning to upgrade to gigabit speed I would recommend getting an Arris SB6183. It has a great reputation and is a rock solid performer ! It is a stand-alone cable modem so you will need to use a router with it for multiple network client devices and WiFi.

Here is an excellent site for researching routers;
