Connection Status

Is my connection an issue?

 

I have had several issues lately that are on again off again.  I thought there was throttling going on with Xfinity due to my very high usage rates.  After reading on these treads that they should NEVER trottle you and getting some tips to check the status of the connection, I wanted to post this connection report to see if there is anything noticible wrong here?  Any help is appreciated as sometimes my connection speed seems to drop down to 30-40mbs and I have 1GB service.  Sometimes, my internet is completely unusable saying I am fully connected but when I try to reach a website or access anything online getting a no connection notice.  It seems odd becuase my computer shows as connected but I can access nothing through ethernet or wireless!

Your SNR is too low and out of spec on every downstream channel posted. Probably noise somewhere (that’s the N in SNR)or it’s coming out of the tap like that. Maybe a good idea to have a tech out

Thank you for the reply.  I had a tech come out and they say there is nothing they could do since my cable is connected properly.  Should this connection status report be something they are looking at while on site becuase I feel like he just checked to see that the connection was established outside the house and that my modem was hooked up properly and that was it.  After I told him the issues I was having it felt like he had no clue and he looked at my like I wasn't speaking the same language.

 

Call them back out?  It looks like things are now worse than yesterday, from  my understanding of this anyway?

I also have a smart home with almost everything connected into my system.  I have my router next to a switch and a NAS unit.  I also have a mesh router system (Orbi) with 3 satelites in the house and outside of the router.  2 of those satelites are by computers, TVs or hubs for my smart house.

 

Could these be the noice?  If so, how can I still have my smart home function properly but not create all this extra noise for my connection?

Noise is in the cabling, not your Wi-Fi devices. The tech “should” have hooked his meter up to the line feeding your house, it will look for noise. If your house is clean, they should have looked at a map of the neighborhood and see if your neighbors or others on your run are having those same SNR issues and get it in the right hands. If you can, hook up your modem at the point of entry and take readings again(to compare with inside the house).

Ok I will give that a shot and give them a call back in the morning with what I find and see if I can get the connection issued resolved.
