Change Router Channels

Hello:

I need to change my router’s channel. I live in an area where many other routers are using Channel 11 - and my router is stuck broadcasting at Channel 11 as well.

I want to change my router to broadcast on channel 6. The gateway won’t let me change the channel. It claims to be “handling it automatically,” but it does not change the channel even when I force it to analyze the nearby networks. It is not handling the channels at all.

How do I change the channel for my router?

What gateway do you have? I was able to change channels on every Comcast rented gateway that I got except the new Xb7 disables that option
