I have been on the phone for hours with Xfinity Technical support and also with Netgear technical support. All I want is the firmware from my Comcast Compatible Modem/Router Model C7800 to be updated from 2.4.62 to 3.01.38. Comcast is saying they don't provide this update. Netgear is saying that it's not their gateway and Comcast must send the firmware update through. I have seen here that Comcast does provide firmware updates to customer owned modems in the past. It has been successful. Can someone please help me and just get my firmware updated so that I no longer have internet dropping issues. Thank you to anyone that can answer and help. I would appreciate it grately.
Have you tried power cycling the device ? The system automatically keeps the firmware updated to the latest version that is sent to Comcast by the manufacturer. Then it goes through a testing phase. Perhaps it is still in that phase ? Sometimes it is decided to not be used at all. Maybe your problem isn't firmware related ?
What do the modem's signal stats look like ? Try getting them here http://192.168.100.1 or here http://10.0.0.1
Please post the *Downstream Power Level*, the *Upstream Power Level*, and the *SNR* (Signal to Noise Ratio) numbers.
Is this a WiFi connection ?
