Can I plug in a Netgear router to my new comcasr modem..

So I just swapped out an old modem for new own that has the buit in router.. The router works fine in the house but is spotty outside. Is it okay if I still use my netgear router or will that slow internet speeds? The netgear router works better outside.

Yes you can but If you hang stand-alone / separate router off of the gateway device, and the gateway is not in *bridge mode*, you are cascading 2 routing devices which results in an undesirable "double NAT" condition on your home network.

Google "double NAT" for info about it's potential pitfalls.

You really should put it in to bridge mode. Here's how;
