Cable drop outs only resolved by disconnecting/reconnecting cable to modem

I can't quite figure this out.  Im having regular drop outs of my connection, and the only way to restablish connectivity is to disconnect the cable from the modem and reconnect it.

I've tried bypassing all splitters in the house and connecting to the main feed in as well as using the splitter which has a -3.5db pad.  Same results.

When it's working, my signal stats look good - downstream signal strength around 3 to 6dbmv, ~40db SNR.  Upstream power ~42dbmv.  When it drops out my downstream power drops to around -2 to 0 dbmv.

I can't work out why disconnecting and reconnecting the coax from the model would resolve it so immediately.  I thought potentially poor earthing/static issues, and replaced the earth connection but it has not seemed to help.

I have a tech coming tomorrow, but thought I'd ask here.
