2nd IP address for CPE with SB6190

I know it's possible to have more than one dynamic IPv4 address for my equipment using customer-owned equipment.  I have an Arris SB6190.  In other systems, the ISPs usually allow up to 3 CPE to get an IP address through a single modem.  However, with Xfinity, the default is only one.  Additional public IP addresses for residential circuits is an unusual request, and I have not been able to find anyone on the phone who knows how to do it, probably because their tier-1 is limited in scope.  "Additional IP Addresses" is listed on the rate card for $4.95/month for residential Xfinity.  How do I get the 2nd IP address?

Re: 2nd IP address for CPE with SB6190

Actually, it can be done with this model modem because I've done it before.  When I was in Arizona, I subscribed to Cable ONE (now Sparklight), and they allow every residential customer to get 3 DHCP IP addresses by default regardless of what model modem they're using.  I had 3 IP's, and over the years changed modems and models quite a few times.

I know it can be done, technically.  It appears that Xfinity has been eliminating this feature.  I've found rates sheets for other areas that still list additional IP's, but the rate sheet for Boulder, Colorado no longer has it.  That's too bad.  It seems the only way I can get a 2nd IP is to get a 2nd residential circuit.  If I'm going to do that, it might as well be Centurylink.

Greetings, @Warthan! I appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us here on the forums. I hope you are having an amazing day! I understand the need for getting that 2nd IP address ti have a little more bandwidth the play around with. I would like to see if we have it available in your area. Since you already sent a PM, I will continue to assist you through there.

FWIW, you likely do know that you will need to use a multi-port ethernet switch connected to that modem if you want to have multiple WAN / public IP's as it only has a single built-in ethernet port. Just sayin'. 🙂

ComCastMichael was able to help me add the additional IP to my plan.  It was all just a matter of finding somebody who knew what I was talking about.  🙂
