How close is too close

Hello everyone,

I have a two bedroom home with my gateway modem all the way in the furthest back room. I cannot get service in the living and dining room which are all the way on the other side of the apartment. I bought a set of three xFi pods and moved my desktop to the living room. I have a xFi pod no more than 4 feet away and I’m still getting a download speed of 2.5 mbps and an upload speed of 1 mbps. Can I return my xFi pods for a refund or is there anything else I should try?

Re: How close is too close

Hello, Colemaniv! Welcome to the Xfinity Forums. The xFi pods do not increase your speeds, but extend the range of connectivity you already have. I know how frustrating it is to have slow speeds in your own home so I would really like to take a closer look and help improve your experience. Please send me a private message with your first and last name so I can assist.

Re: How close is too close

Need more info. Are you using all the XFI PODs? Only use the amount of pods you actually need.
If your using all 3 pods the last pod will have very slow speeds depending how far there spaced from the other pods. If your only using 1 pod and it’s in the room your having WiFi issues it’s doing nothing.
Depending on the layout of your house I would place first pod a room to a room in a half away from gateway. If that’s already half way to the rooms your having WiFi issues then test and see if WiFi is now good. If not place a second POD about the same distance away and reset. If you have done this with all 3 PODs and still having issue you will have to play with the distance of each pod.
